Are libraries still needed? I've never really cared about the library, but once I got to middle school, I learned that libraries are so much more than being quiet and reading. Librarian Windi Deiter at Prairie City High School has taught everyone so much about the school library. Libraries are actually extremely important because most of the time they give you free access to information, foster literacy, promote digital equity, and support vulnerable populations.
Public libraries and some school libraries usually come with many genres which really help a lot of people learn. Imagine a school—a world—where the importance of a library turns into reality. That is the future we can build, starting today."
Therefore, libraries are more than just old books. They have many different kinds of access to learning. They also have access to all sorts of records and free internet. Libraries provide so many things that people don't even realize. I think many children should start going to libraries younger for free learning access. I encourage every single one of you to go out to a library with your friends, family, or just by yourself. It will be worth your time. Everyone will find something they are interested in.
Ultimately, the Prairie City High School library, guided by Mrs. Deiter, represents the school’s dedication to lifelong learning.
While the debate may continue, the evidence overwhelmingly points to libraries being important for education. I challenge you to try one out when you pass by or in your free time.
