Levi Watterson

The New History Teacher, Mr. Watterson

Mya Bryant, Student Writer

Levi was an ambitious young man, growing up here in the heart of Grant County. Levi worked with his father in the Timber Industry. He wanted to take part in the physical education/therapist career paths, and always had an interest in history. He started off going to a centralized community college for a year, then continued on to OSU, where he got his bachelor’s degree in physical education. But Mr. Watterson wasn’t finished there. He earned a minor in Social Science, Psychology, Geography, and History. He said, “I found it super easy and less expensive to start off my first year in a community college and make that transition into OSU.”

This winter, Mr. Watterson plans to continue his education by starting his Master’s degree in teaching, all while he keeps teaching history and growing his career. His advice for anyone just graduating from high school is to take some time for yourself, starting with a 2-year college(community college), then, when you're finally ready to go back to school, It will help exponentially with not going into debt. Students can also avoid debt by following the military path. “If you don’t know what you want to do straight out of high school, don’t panic, it’s okay not to know, everyone learns as they go.”

In the end, Mr.Watterson states that he is happy with how far he has come and strives to get farther in his teaching career as well as his career in coaching Football.
