Good morning, All -
I was pleased this year with how many awards our ELA students received for their writing. Ten students earned regional and state awards, along with cash prizes totaling over $600. Such recognition goes a long way in motivating students to engage in learning and aspire to academic excellence.
I was even more pleased with the news I received yesterday. Out of an estimated 20,000 essays from all 50 states, one of our ELA students from the small town of Prairie City, Oregon, Bransyn Harper, placed third in the nation in the Elks Americanism Essay Contest!
This honor comes with significant recognition and awards, as well as a substantial cash prize. I notified his parents last night. This is an amazing accomplishment, and it demonstrates that there are no limits to what can be achieved when we work together as a supportive community for our students.
Thank you,
Tammarra Ferguson, ELA Teacher, 7-12
