Reminder for Every Kid Outdoors Day:
All students must wear long pants (joggers, leggings, jeans, etc.) and closed-toed shoes. Please also keep the weather in mind, as it may be rainy. Dressing students in layers and sending a rain jacket is recommended.

The 10/11th grade and Advanced Art classes painted native plants and flowers on trashcans for the Greater Prairie City Community Association. The trashcans will be distributed throughout the town. 🌸

On Monday and Tuesday, Sawyer Quinton representing Prairie City High School finished in 10th place at the State 1A, 2A,3A golf championships at Tokatee Golf Course in McKenzie Bridge Or. Sawyer was one of 68 of the best players in the state competing over the two-day event. He won his third state medal and was awarded one of the flags given out by the Oregon Golf Course Superintendents Assoc. He was also named to the prestigious All-Tournament Team for the 3rd year in a row, which recognizes the top 10 best golfers in the state. Great job Sawyer!

Prairie City Families,
Buell Gonzales Jr. is the newly selected Superintendent/High School Principal for Prairie City School District. A 1993 graduate of Prairie City High School, Gonzales returns to the community with more than two decades of experience in education, athletics, and school leadership throughout Oregon.
Gonzales currently serves as Principal at South Baker Intermediate School in Baker City. He's previously held leadership positions as an Athletic Director, Transportation Director, Vice Principal, and Dean of Students. Throughout his career, he has focused on building positive school culture, strengthening relationships, supporting teachers and students, and developing strong community partnerships. He also just completed his Superintendent Licensure through George Fox University.
In addition to his educational leadership experience, Gonzales has coached multiple sports at the high school level and has been actively involved in statewide athletic leadership through the Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA).
Buell and his wife, Kendra, who is a graduate of Grant Union High School, have two children. Their daughter works as a nurse in Vancouver, Washington, and their son serves as an assistant manager for Les Schwab Tires in Eugene, Oregon.
Gonzales shared that returning to Prairie City to serve the students, staff, and community is both professionally exciting and personally meaningful. He looks forward to building strong relationships, supporting students and staff, and helping Prairie City Schools continue to grow and thrive.
